SHADY LADY'S TEST DRIVE OF THE BELGRADE'S ARENA

On May 13, glamorous Ukrainian pop-icon Ani Lorak has held her first rehearsal on the main stage of Eurovision 2008 in Belgrade’s Arena. Wonderful voice and extraordinary choreography, with dancers mysteriously appearing from the illuminated glass boxes, impressed everyone present, instantly propelling the stunning singer to No 1 position at Eurovision fan zone chart.

Arriving to the post-rehearsal press conference in style, Ani Lorak entered the hall of the ESC press centre escorted by her gorgeous dancers and friendly members of the Ukrainian delegation, whom she lovingly introduced as her family.

“There was a huge Eurovision party in Kiev just two days ago, and I was asked by more than 150 000 Ukrainian fans of Eurovision to send you all a big hug and a kiss on their behalf,” said the radiant singer at the beginning of her first meeting with the journalists.

“For me Eurovision is not just about winning, it’s a fantastic opportunity to share my emotions and passionate music with millions of Europeans.” – said the singer. “I and all members of my team are very excited and we guarantee that Shady Lady will put on a dazzling show here in Belgrade”.

The king of Russian pop and a long-time Eurovision regular Phillip Kirkorov, who wrote the song Shady Lady specially for Ani Lorak, was also present at the meeting. “Ani is the supreme voice of Ukraine and I am very proud of our collaboration. She is 100% Shady Lady. Her majestic voice, together with the roof-raising choreography created by genius Greek showman Fokas Evangelinos, will take Eurovision 2008 by storm.”

“Shady Lady is an enigmatic confluence of passion and harmony.” – said a member of Ani’s team. “One side of her, symbolized by a black pearl, lives a life of a dazzling and provocative predator, while the other, symbolized by a white pearl, is a humble, caring and affectionate lady with a big and gentle heart”. The entrancing black and white pearls feature as the main theme on the promo materials introduced by the singer during the press conference.

The guests of the press conference were particularly impressed by the original comics book Shady Lady against Mr AIDS. And the choice of the story’s plot is not a coincidence – Ani Lorak, it will be remembered, served as the UN Good Will Ambassador for AIDS in Ukraine in 2004 and is Good Will Ambassador of the international organization Designers Against AIDS. One of their joint projects, an advocacy film YOU CAN’T GET AIDS THROUGH FRIENDSHIP, will be screened for the participants and fans of Eurovision 2008 during the two weeks in Belgrade.

During the Q&A session one of Ani’s fervent admirers from Israel has demonstrated a Shady Lady T-shirt which he has designed and created himself. Surprised and flattered Ani thanked him and presented her creative supporter with the original Shady Lady CD and DVD.
